Tyneside Women’s Health will be holding an event on Thursday 23rd November to raise awareness about violence against women and girls. The White Ribbon is the symbol of the international campaign to end violence against women, initiated by the United Nations in 1999.
This year Tyneside Women’s Health is working hard to raise awareness of the White Ribbon Campaign to end violence against women. The event will provide an opportunity to hear directly from women about their experiences of domestic abuse and well as to find out about local initiatives. The event will take place in the Caedmon Hall of Gateshead Central Library and a limited number places are still available.
The guest speakers at the event include representatives from Gateshead Council, Northumbria Police and local law firm Ben Hoare Bell. A representative from the Alice Ruggles Trust will also speak about the work of the trust in raising awareness of stalking and harassment.
White Ribbon Day in the UK is 25th November. This date also marks the start of 16 days of activism leading up to Human Rights Day on 10th December.
