Direct Client Work

We have two approaches for our direct client work:

• Navigation
• Critical Time Intervention (CTI)

Fulfilling Lives Newcastle Gateshead has now reached the halfway point of our programme, with our funding from the National Community Fund coming to an end in 2022.

With this in mind, we have decided to revolutionise the way that we support people experiencing MCN, moving away from the navigation model of the past 4 years and piloting an innovative way of working adopted from America: Critical Time Intervention (CTI).

We will continue to offer our navigation model to some of the people we support over the next 2 years as we know it works for some! This navigation support includes a ‘refer and accompany’ approach to enable people to access the services they need to meet their needs. The navigation approach is not time-limited and has an open approach to the focus on support planning and goal setting.

We have a team of 8 System Change Practitioners working across Newcastle and Gateshead, supported by our Senior System Change Practitioner Vicky Smith.  There are 4 System Change Practitioners based with Oasis Aquila Housing and 4 based with Mental Health Concern.

Our Practitioners are currently working with approximately 100 people with multiple complex needs, providing person-centred support and linking people with the support networks they need to establish lasting ties to thrive in their communities.  We will continue to work with our current caseload over the next 2 years, focussing on their positive move on and therefore will not be taking new referrals to the programme.
