Our free comprehensive training and development package is open to all services in the region and covers five key areas:

Through our training offer, we aim to ensure the best quality training and development around complex needs is offered to the wider system in Newcastle and Gateshead, and that this training is delivered in creative and innovative ways that best meet the needs of the workforce, including using new technologies. Training is delivered quarterly and is bespoke to the system in Newcastle and Gateshead.
Our training package is informed by the evidence from our Research and Evaluation Team and the experiences of our staff and Experts By Experience Network. We also work to ensure that our local training and development offer connects effectively with the other Fulfilling Lives programmes across the country.
We particularly focus on developing five key skill sets for working effectively with people with complex needs. These are:
Accepting and engaging people as they are (validating and actively listening)
Believing people can get better (building motivation and hope)
Collaboration skills (planning solutions to solve problems together, then reflect together on the outcomes…to build problem-solving skills)
Developing trust in relationships (being reliable and consistent)
Establishing & maintaining our role and boundaries (building realistic expectations about what you can – and cannot – do within your role)
We are developing tools and resources that can support the wider sector to develop these five key skill sets, including training booklets and films.
